SXSW 2015 Recap

| March 23, 2015

We came, we saw and we SXSWed HARD. Not to pat ourselves on the back, but if you weren’t in Austin for SXSW’s Tech Week, you missed out. The HipChat party was an epic success. People lined up out the door to get into our offices. We had gigantic Jenga, classic arcade games, free tacos, Frito pie, there were even cut out’s of Bill Lumbergh for the ever – important photo op.

Lots of folks looked around and saw all of the Atlassian’s enjoying their teammates, people laughing and having a great time together, so naturally, they wanted to know how they could work for us. Since, we’re always hiring the best and the brightest, we were stoked to tell them all about what we do.

People clamored to talk to our staff decked out in their sweet black and gold HipChat shirts. We answered questions about what HipChat does for teams, as well as talk to people who’ve never heard of Atlassian. For our second year in town, we made a lot of new friends, and hopefully, some of those friends will check out our products.

What we enjoyed the most about the HipChat party was the overwhelming sense of camaraderie from everyone involved. No drama, no one harshing the buzz, just a lot of great folks chatting, dancing like fools, while perfect strangers embodied the connectivity that HipChat champions. It was a great night to meet new people, learn about new technology and have a cold drink in the great city of Austin, TX.

Come for the ATX Startup Crawl, stay for SXSW!

| March 03, 2015

Austin’s signature music and tech event is around the corner and you know we’re excited. The people, the events, the music; the event celebrates Austin’s iconic culture and shows folks from around the world just why we’re emerging as the hottest tech city in America.

The ATX Startup Crawl is Capital Factory’s must-attend event kicking off SXSW, and we’re happy to be a Megastop along the way. On March 12th, we’re pushing back the desks and setting up for an amazing experience. You won’t want to miss the action happening at 816 Congress from 5 to 10 pm.

HipChat has grown leaps and bounds in the past year. It’s time to kick up our heels and show everyone the amazing things we’ve achieved since people saw us last.

So what’s going on?

We’ll have classic video games, a slow motion photo booth, face painting (who doesn’t want to be a tiger?), a DJ, and food and drinks in the HipChat Lounge.

We’re also hosting a HipChat game app for our party that’ll have you snapping photos with strangers, and quoting your favorite lines from Office Space. Get your game on with our interactive challenge and lucky winners will take home awesome prizes. One lucky person will win a signed red stapler from Gary Cole, who played Bill Lumbergh, everyone’s favorite horrible boss from Office Space.

Finally, we’ve partnered with some of Austin’s coolest companies. While you’re at our office, don’t miss your chance to talk with these fine folks and learn about the exciting things they’re doing.

  • Mutual Mobile
  • Pingboard
  • Recommenu
  • Weeva
  • 3 Day Startup
  • Jackrabbit Mobile

Make sure you come by our office and check out what Atlassian’s got planned. The city of Austin will be one big party, but this is your chance to attend the best SXSW pre-party going.

Wanna win a VIP Badge to the Austin Startup Crawl?

It’s super easy: just post your best photo from one of your favorite SXSW shows, events, or even you and your friends eating in front of an Austin food truck to our Facebook page, and that’s it. Tag everyone that’s headed to Austin for SXSW, and you’re entered.

The contest ends March 7th, so get sharing!

Check out the the Lean Startup Bundle from AppSumo

| March 10, 2011

Last year at SXSW we spread the word about HipChat by giving away a ton of tshirts and meeting as many people as possible. This year we’ve partnered with AppSumo to offer 6 months of free HipChat to new users who purchase the Lean Startup Bundle for SXSW ($99). The bundle includes deals on almost 30 other web services, including Twilio, SauceLabs, and LessAccounting which we use to run HipChat.

So go check it out. We’d love to help your new startup succeed.

Back from SXSW, deep in the heart of Texas

| March 22, 2010

We just got back from the South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive conference in Austin, TX. If you aren’t familiar with SXSW, it’s a jam packed weekend of panels, parties, great food, and a rare opportunity to hang out with fellow techies in real life. Here are some of the great people we met while giving out the very popular HipChat t-shirts.

This is the third year I’ve been to SXSW. Over the years I’ve noticed an increasing presence of large companies. They’ve discovered that it’s THE place to see and be seen. This, of course, means that all of the actually interesting people will stop attending. If you’ve wanted to attend SXSW but haven’t yet, I’d do it soon. If you’re from a big company trying to be cool, SXSW is played out. Don’t go.

Find us at SXSW and get a free HipChat shirt

| March 12, 2010

We’re on our way to SXSW Interactive along with a bunch of free HipChat shirts.

Come find us and we’ll hook you up. If you won’t be at SXSW but want a shirt anyway, just leave a comment or retweet this. We’ll probably have some extras.

See you in Austin!
