Introducing HipChat for iPhone and iPad

By Pete Curley | 2 years ago | 12 Comments

Today we’re happy to announce the release of our native iPhone and iPad apps. We want to thank all of our beta testers and customers who have been waiting patiently. We’re passionate about accessibility and this is a big step towards getting HipChat on every operating system and device out there. The apps are free and available in the App Store.

The app has just about everything you’d expect:

  • Group chat and 1-to-1 messaging
  • Inline previews for images, Twitter, and YouTube, etc.
  • Receive push notifications for 1-to-1 chats, room invites, and when you’re mentioned in a room
  • Other users will see you as being on an iPhone

If you have any bugs or feedback please contact us.

One more thing…

We’ve also added a new emoticon: (jobs) . Enjoy!

HipChat is group chat and IM built for teams. Learn more

    What about a Blackberry application?

No plans right now. We’ll see how many users are still on Blackberry after we release our Android app. :)

HipChat for iPhone and iPad, FTW!

Landscape mode would be nice, so you can use the larger keyboard on the iPad. Also – any way to turn off one device kicking your log in off the other device?

Both of these improvements are on our list. Multi-session support is a little tricky to handle properly with rooms but we’re working on it.

Are you using airship? Will you integrate bump? (Awaiting Android here.

We’re not using Airship for the iOS apps currently. What do you mean by bump?

Yeah, Android-based application is much appreciated!

I would appreciate the andriod app using urban airship, reliable push notifications.
Bump is here http://bu.mp but I forget why I wanted it.

haha…i misread this thinking you were a cocky SOB…my brain read this as, “we’ll see how many users stick with blackberry after our kickass Android app that will wipe the floor with whatever BB is doing.”

personally i like the cockiness in a startup :)

looking forward to a blackberry app. preferably designed with bb10 OS in mind so it will be used for most people’s future phones:D.
however, bb5, 6, 7 support will be nice too so it would work with current phones:)
